Building Perspectives

About the event

The strengthening of economic relations between Mali and Canada was at the center of a meeting held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, with the Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration. During this meeting, Mr. Moustapha Diop, co-founder of DFA Communication, presented the project for the creation of the Maliโ€“Canada Business Council, of which he serves as President.

This initiative, led by a collective of Malian and Canadian economic stakeholders, is part of a broader effort to enhance economic ties between the two countries through the promotion of investment opportunities, cooperation, and sustainable partnerships.

During the meeting, Mr. Diop outlined the main orientations of the Council, which is composed of around thirty founding members from the business community. He also announced that the official launch of the organization is scheduled for April 30, 2026, at the Radisson Collection Hotel in Bamako, under the high patronage of the Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration.

This initiative aims to structure and strengthen economic exchanges between Mali and Canada by providing a conducive framework for business meetings and dialogue among economic actors from both countries. It seeks to promote trade, stimulate investment, support research and innovation, encourage the sharing of strategic perspectives, and foster the creation of joint ventures, all within a spirit of cooperation and sustainable impact.

Mr. Diop expressed his appreciation for the support provided throughout the process of bringing this initiative to fruition, while also requesting the continuation of such support.

The Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration praised the relevance and strategic importance of this initiative, which aligns fully with his vision of promoting the value of the diaspora. He highlighted the significant contribution of Malians living in Canada, who are actively involved in economic and social activities.

The Minister also expressed his gratitude for the trust and honor extended to him, while reaffirming his willingness to support any initiative that contributes to strengthening economic ties, enhancing the value of the diaspora, and consolidating relations between Mali and its international partners.
